I have made many chess sets from leather over the years.  I find myself surrounded by chessmen at times and playful as I am I tend to make scenes or dioramas with them.   This set of three globes came about during the start of the Ukraine/Russia conflict. I was inspired by the simplification with which chess pieces and their roles on the board reflected our complex social structures.  I took it a step further and gave the pieces some more complexity while oversimplifying the steps of conflict into three stages - Coronations, liberations and the liberated.  In the end we are all Pawns with different hats.
